This still life was drawn from both life and a photograph to convey the societal fixation on external beauty, demonstrated through a focus on objects of vanity and grooming. After setting up the arrangement, I took a photograph, utilizing the bokeh effect to fade the objects in the background. The vibrant red roses, the first item most viewers are drawn to, serve as a metaphor for the vitality and allure of beauty. Furthermore, the jewelry and gold designs decorating the brush convey a sense of opulence that characterizes beauty. However, the mask in the left foreground emphasizes the facade and potential loss of authentic identity engendered by fixating on external beauty.
