Immersed in Blue

This self-portrait depicts my developing tensions with the art form of ballet and its expectations of elegance despite physical and mental adversities. Reminiscent of my many experiences backstage before ballet competitions, my pose encapsulates my emotional reflection from my late nights of relentless rehearsal in the studios. I arranged the lighting by positioning a blue LED ring light to imitate the backstage lighting and to emphasize my melancholic introspection. I layered colors, starting with the more saturated blues and progressing to more muted tones.
